Foundation Stone Service

About 30 people attended a short outdoor service to mark the 150th anniversary of the laying of the foundation stone of the church.

During the service the Rev Alison read an exerpt from the church archives describing the original ceremony in 1865, Roy Holland (our longest serving member) read the first lesson (Ezra 3:10-11) and Christopher Davis (whose family have been members for three generations) read the Gospel lesson (Luke 6: 46-49)

After the service everyone adjourned to the Welcome Room for coffee and cake. As shown below the cake (generously cooked and provided by Carol Preece) was a facsimile of the foundation stone in its granite setting. Our other photos show the outdoor service with Christopher reading the lesson beside the newly rennovated foundation stone and then cutting the cake, watched by Reverend Alison, Cynthia Merriman (senior steward)  and Roy.
